William Lilly 1602-1681 "The Last of the Great Traditional Astrologers"
author of Christian Astrology and other important books on astrology
William Lilly was one of the more famous late medieval astrologers in a long line of renowned traditional astrologers. He predicted the Great Fire of London and was a significant figure in the English Civil Wars. He was the astrologer for Parliament, which did prevail against the Royalists. However, Lilly was generous enough to give good advice to the enemy, King Charles I, which he did not heed. Charles then lost his head, which Lilly had also predicted.
His book Christian Astrology stands today as one of the better reference sources of Horary and Traditional Astrological methods, and proves to be very reliable in its application, even in our modern times.
Lilly was a church warden at Walton-on-Thames in England in the mid 1600's. He is buried there in England.
Christian Astrology deserves great acclaim, for Lilly was one of the last of the great Traditional Astrologers. The true art began to fall into disgrace at the end of the 1600s.
