Some basic ancient definitions used in the Kabbalistic texts
This is a brief list and will be added to in the future.
Kavanah : One meaning is, where one clears the mind of all thoughts and enters into intense focused concentration or mediation where all feelings and emotions are directed towards their intended prayers or contemplation. This type of technique is also referred to in the New testament as Contemplation by Christ and other saints and prophets.
Maggidim: Means an advocate Angel that one creates and/or attracts by their actions
Yichudim : Means a unification used in Kabbalistic meditations (These can consist of complex numerical and word permutations and mantras)
Ruach HaKodesh: (Holy Spirit or divine presence of GOD)
Outside Forces : This is specifically a warning to all those who dabble in ceremonial magical practices or use the binding of spells and work with the forces known in Kabbalah as the 4th Hierarchy (Namely the evils spirits) which are headed by Satan, Belial, Lucifer and Leviathan. In our modern times this has become a particular concern because magic is again being deified. GOD and the Holy Angels are the only force capable of controlling these Dark forces a human cannot (even if they think they can) without the assistance of GOD and the Holy angels. Any such attempt usually ends in disaster and many times in the loss of the soul. This is why the Holy scripture's consistently refer to the protection of our souls and Tehillim (the Psalms) specifically 91, 68, 50 and many others, could not be any clearer on these points! A reckless member of a not so "secret society" called the Secret Order Of The Golden Dawn named Alister Crowley (to name just one of many who fell and do fall to this fateful end) discovered this the hard way by arrogant intellectualism which always ends in a bad way and many times in the loss of the individuals soul. Humans are not smart enough to play with GOD's tree of knowledge and would be far better off realizing this truth and appreciating the divine protection we are all afforded every moment of our earthly and generally ungrateful existence. These are the strong warnings GOD has repeated in both the New and Old Testaments and which was clearly echoed by Moses, Christ and all the saints and prophets. The Bahir, Zohar and Talmud are explicit on these matters.
Mikvah: A Mikvah is a purification of the body, mind and soul. There are many methods on this path to clear the soul of all the spritual damage it has caused during incarnations.
Being [spiritually] "cut off," : This is repeated and referred to often in the New and Old Testament This means that the Shechinah (Divine presence of God) leaves a person and they attract the Klippah (Negative spirits, entities or shells) to them. This is also what is meant in Genesis where Adam and Eve realized they were "Naked" and the "Fig Leaves" were the negative entities they attracted and were covered with after their sin in the Garden of Eden. The biggest problem today, with materialism possessing our every waking moment, is people think it is something that "used to be" and yet it is more prevalent now than ever before!
